Rick Sanchez to Host South Beach-Set Syndicated Talk Show
Well, flappy mouthed TV anchor Rick Sanchez is not only back living in Miami, but he may be back on your TV screen next year. You can blame Gloria and Emilio Estefan. The power-couple is reportedly involved in a plan to launch a bi-lingual syndicated talk show shot in South Beach and hosted by Sanchez. May we suggest Sanchez's Syndicated Spanglish South Beach Show as a name?
Sanchez tells TV Newser that the new program will be shot in the Cardozo Hotel in South Beach, owned by the Estefans, before a live studio audience. The show will tape both English and Spanish editions and could be on air by fall 2012. Oh great, so South Beach's new Jackie Gleason is Rick Sanchez? Fantastic.
The show will be modeled somewhat after Live with Regis and Kelly, and Sanchez says he's looking for a "Latina Kelly Ripa" with national name recognition.
The announcement is the latest in Sanchez's return to the industry after he was fired by CNN in October for making remarks that erred a little too closely to being anti-Semitic.
Sanchez has also been announced as a color commentator for FIU football games, and is in talks with Miami-based MegaTV to create programing for the channel.
