On a sunny Tuesday morning last week, just hours before the Heat hosted the Los Angeles Lakers, Alan Ogg - speaking from his new Miami Beach apartment - offered a rare glimpse inside the private life of a public phenomenon.

Age: 23

Birthday: July 5, 1967

Birthstone: Ruby

Zodiac Sign: Cancer

Favorite Movie: "I got a bunch of favorite movies. Probably One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Amadeus, Stripes."

Favorite TV show: "I like older shows. I like Andy Griffith a lot. I like Leave it to Beaver. Andy's on every day on WTBS, in the afternoon. There's a bunch of shows on, and I just watch the whole series, Fred Flintstone, The Brady Bunch, Good Times, Happy Days, Beverly Hillbillies."

Last album purchased: Supertramp, Breakfast in America.

Last book read: Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, by Robert Pirsig.

If you were stranded on a desert island with three albums, which three would they be?

Bob Dylan, Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits, The Beatles (The White Album), Dire Straits Greatest Hits

The perfect vacation: "I would probably go home right now. I've been feeling a little bit homesick, so I'd like to go back to Birmingham for a while. I'd get to see my friends again."

Hobbies: "I play guitar, or at leastI try to. It's more like pickingout the melodies when I hear them. Butit's relaxing. I have three guitars, an electric, an acoustic, and a bass, and I just learned `HereComes the Sun,' and some stuff by Eric Clapton, Peter Frampton, and Led Zeppelin. And theother night I was picking out the bassnotes, the do-do-do-do-do-do-do, from Vanilla Ice."

Pets: "I like animals. In Birmingham, I had a fish tank that I built myself. Some birds. An octopus. A skunk. A lot of the pets couldn't make the trip to Miami, but I did bring Scratch. He's a rat, about eight inches long. That's not including the tail."

Favorite place to go in Miami: "I've been down to ParrotJungle and down to the zoo. I like things like, you know, they had the thing in Coconut Grove, the streetfair, like that. We went twice over the weekend."

On the war: "I'm glad that it's finally come to an end. The troops are getting back. Everyone's very supportive for those people who are fighting, which is nice."

On Autographs: "I went out to eat the other day at the Falls and this little boy came up and asked for my autograph. I don't mind when it's a few people, but when there's 500 and you know you can't get to all of them, I try to avoid that because people get their feelings hurt."

If you had one piece of advice for kids: "Stay in school and try to do the best at what you can do. I think that I've shown that if you work hard, you can really get what you're striving for.
