Remember that time Anita Bryant led a campaign to repeal a Dade County ordinance that prohibited discrimination against gay people? Well, Nancy Grace doesn't seem to remember much of that.

Bryant, by that time a washed-up singer and face of the Florida orange industry, was a Miami resident when in 1977 the county passed an ordinance protecting gays from discrimination. Bryant was outraged over the idea that gay people couldn't be fired from their jobs or denied housing simply because they were gay, so she organized a campaign to repeal it. She's also responsible for the now-struck-down Florida law that forbade gay couples, even single gay men and women, from adopting children.

The battle over Miami's human right ordinance became a national issue, and while speaking in Des Moines, Iowa, Bryant was hit with a pie thrown by a gay-rights protester. "At least it's a fruit pie," she quipped before crying and praying.

Anyway, while talking about that guy who attacked Brad Pitt on a red carpet, Nancy Grace somehow segued into her disgust about this pieing that took place 35 years ago. She still can't get over it.

Grace notably did not mention the fact that Bryant was pied because of her extremely homophobic views.

"She was speaking on some issues dear to her heart. I remember that as a little girl. I mean she is a lady... I... I... I don't understand that," Grace exclaimed. "Why did that guy do that?"

I don't know, Nancy. Maybe because she thought all homosexuals were child molesters who shouldn't be allowed to teach in public schools?

Guest Dr. Bethany Marshall then went on to explain that the protester was just jealous of Bryant's beauty and singing voice.
