Less than an hour ago, police arrested a Miami-Dade cop accused of molesting a minor in his custody.

Charles J. Corban, a 41-year-old veteran, has been charged with six counts of sexual battery on a child older than 12 but younger than 18 years old, says Det. Alvaro Zabaleta, a spokesman for the Miami-Dade Police Department. Corban also faces one count of lewd and lascivious molestation, he says.

Corban's alleged crimes took place between 2007 and 2010, police say. Zabaleta declined to release any other specific information about the charges against the officer.

Members of the Miami-Dade PD's Special Victims Bureau arrested Corban earlier today in Hialeah, Zabaleta says.

Zabaleta didn't have any information on Corban's police career or how long he'd been on the force.  But a 1993 Miami Herald story mentions that he was president of his class at the police academy, so he's been a cop for at least 16 years.

Corban is scheduled to attend a bond hearing tomorrow but doesn't yet have a lawyer listed on the record.

We'll update this post when we learn more about the charges against Corban.
