Miami Central Tackles Dallas Madison in Florida-Texas Football Showdown
The last time Riptide had the
footballs to run a preview of a Miami Central game, the Rockets lost on the last play of the game to a burly Camden County team that -- by the looks of it that night -- snorted Smokey and the Bandit's ashes just before kickoff.
This reporter was even called a "panty waist loser" for daring to suggest Central would emerge victorious.
So this time, we're just going to channel our inner Broadway Joe Namath by flat-out predicting the Rockets will beat James Madison High School (Dallas) in DeSoto, Texas tomorrow afternoon.
We make that prediction on the expert advice of the same crack-team of high-paid scientists that run our Fidel Castro Death Meter. Apparently, on weekends they shed their lab coats, microwave a giant Mexican sombrero full of nachos, and study slow-mo highlights like the rest of us.

These scientists tell us that despite Dallas Madison dropping 60+ points on an opponent for the second week in a row, they are only 73 percent the team that Central is. And although the school sent several former players to the NFL, Madison has only one D-I recruit on its roster this year. (Although Camden County didn't have any....)
The Rockets put up nearly 350 yards in the air against Camden last Friday, and are bolstered by returning wide receiver Durell Eskridge. Moreover, despite their school name (The Trojans), Madison's defense is not the best. Case in point: they shipped 47 points to 4A Dallas Kimball in the first game of the season. If Miami Central senior running back Devonta Freeman has a better outing this time around, the Rockets will run all over the Texas team.
Central will have to be wary, however, of Trojan QB Bryce Pearson, who is a legitimate threat in the air and on the ground.
The game will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. in DeSoto, Texas.
Riptide's prediction: Central 49 - 35 Dallas Madison.
