Today is little Shaba's second birthday. He's spending it Jackson Memorial Hospital recovering from being shot in the head during a random outburst of gunfire in Liberty City on Sunday morning.
The incident happened Sunday morning at a home on Northwest 75th Street and Northwest Eighth Avenue. According to WSVN, Shaba was sleeping in his grandfather's arms when gunshots suddenly went off. The grandfather managed to duck, but Shaba was struck in the head by a bullet.
"He didn't need CPR because he was breathing," the boys grandmother, Tundra, told the station. "He was breathing before he left, and he was having movement in his body. He was just crying because he was agitated."
Shaba was rushed to the hospital and doctors removed the bullet form his head.
The incident comes just days after three young girls were shot in a drive-by shooting in the same neighborhood.
Police are looking for the shooter. Witnesses say he may have been in a car, but that's about it. Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
