It's raining. The temperature has been flirting with the dreaded 90s again. Easter has passed. The seasonal residents are slowly going back to wherever they came from. The big events are beginning to slow down. And all of this means one thing: Welcome to the beginning of the end!
Even though we're still two months away from the official date, summer is slowly knocking on our door. The time of year when the only relief from the wicked heat is the daily afternoon thunderstorm. The time when we watch every tropical wave in the Atlantic, fearing a hurricane. The time when tourism drops off and the snowbirds flock home, but sitting in traffic seems somehow worse.
But cheer up -- our crack Riptide weather staff (read: me checking weather underground), says the temperatures will be back down in the low 80s by week's end. There's still one major tourist baiting event ahead of us: Urban Beach Week!
