Point guard Kenny Hasbrouck is the newest member of the Miami Heat, signing with them on March 16th out of the developmental league, but he's already found himself in a drunk driving scandal. The charges date back to February 5th, before the Heat signed the former Siena College star.
Hasbrouck was driving to his alma matter from Albany, New York when he was pulled over. He failed a total of four field sobrierty tests, and was found to have a blood alcohol level of 0.19, twice the legal limit, according to the Times-Union
The Heat benchwarmer told cops he had downed two Long Island iced teas in an Albany club. We'll put aside the fact that those happen to be our grandmother's drink of choice, and point out that a Long Island iced tea includes vodka, gin, tequila, rum, and triple sec, making it one of the more potent cocktails available.
Hasbrouck reportedly reeked of alcohol, had slurred speech, and impaired movement when he was pulled over at around 3:30 am.
He was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and under New York law could face
one year in jail, a fine up to $2,500 and the revocation of his driver's license.
If Hasbrouck can get into that much trouble in Albany, it makes us wonder what his future here in Miami may bring.
