Florida Man Arrested for Beating Girl to Tune of "Blurred Lines" and Videotaping It
A Florida man has been arrested for perhaps making the most heinous amateur video for Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" yet.
Steven Grady Fillingim, 40, of Pensacola, stands accused of physically abusing an underage female relative. At one point during the attack, he hit her with a metal rod to the beat of "Blurred Lines." He recorded this portion of attack on his cell phone to send to his girlfriend.
According to the arrest report obtained by the Smoking Gun, on September 14, Fillingim arrived home and found that the girl had not vacuumed up bugs from the carpet. He then struck her in the face with both a belt and his hands. He then forced the girl to hold a 20-pound weight in front of her with one hand while holding an eight-pound weight behind her with the other before making her shovel dirt for an hour and a half. He finally allowed the child to go to bed at 1:30 a.m.
The girl told police that Fillingim claimed it was punishment for being lazy as well as for skipping school earlier in the week.
However, she then revealed that Fillingim had already beaten her for the school skipping with a 2.5-foot switch on September 12. That attack lasted 40 minutes, and Fillingim used the switch like a whip on her thighs. That's when he began to soundtrack the flogging to "Blurred Lines" and recorded the violence.
The video was sent in a text message to his girlfriend. The video was titled "She's home." The girlfriend told police she had broken up with Fillingim and seemed very afraid to admit she had seen the abuse. She did provide police with the video.
Fillingim was arrested and charged with three counts of cruelty to a child and child abuse without great bodily harm.
