Evelyn Lozada Breaks Silence: Johnson "Needs To Get Help"
Evelyn Lozada will make her first public statement since her estranged husband Chad Johnson's arrest in a teary interview scheduled to air in full on ABC's Nightline tonight. While she says that she still loves Johnson, she says that she will not reconcile or speak with him and hopes that he gets the help he needs.
"And then the next thing I know, he grabbed me by here [pointing to her head] and he head-butted me," Lozada told Nightline of the night the incident went down. "I felt blood coming down my face ... and I looked at him and I said, 'You just head-butted me?' And it just -- everything just felt if it was in slow motion."
She said that the argument started after she found a Walgreens receipt for condoms dated just three weeks after their marriage.
Lozada filed for divorce two days later, and says she will not call the divorce off, nor has she spoken to Johnson since.
"I don't think any woman should ever have to feel like that or be fearful of her husband," she said.
"I believe he loves me. I believe he needs to get help," she said. "He's a good guy that made a bad choice. He loves football and he's very driven and a great dad. He made a bad choice that destroyed his life, and I hate that I'm connected to that."
