Newsweek has taken up the hard work of finding America's 500 best high schools, and eight are in Miami-Dade County. According to the list, the appropriately named School for Advanced Studies is the best high school in Miami-Dade and the 28th best in the nation.
Here's a list of all the Miami-Dade schools that made the grade.
The first number represents the school's overall rank. The numbers in parentheses indicate the student/teacher ratio, graduation rate, results on AP and IB tests, percentage of students bound for college, average SAT score, and Newsweek's overall score.

- 374. Doctors Charter (17.8, 98%, 2.2, 95%, 1508, 0.271)
- 404. Mater Academy Charter (21.1, 95%, 3.3, 98%, 1382, 0.235)
- 427. Mater Lakes Academy (25.0, 100%, 1.9, 100%, 1358, 0.202)
- 456. Doral Academy Charter (24.0, 98%, 1.6, 99%, 1369, 0.145)
