With the Florida primary less than two weeks away, about 250,000 Republican voters have already cast their absentee ballots. That can't be a good sign for onetime Tea Party golden boy Marco Rubio and the other three remaining Republican presidential contenders dreaming about knocking off frontrunner Donald Trump.

Last week, Quinnipiac University released poll results that show Trump is killing the U.S. senator in just about every important Republican political and demographic category. The billionaire real-estate mogul has double-digit leads among white born-again evangelicals – people who describe themselves as very conservative and, most important, Tea Party activists.

Rubio won his Senate seat in 2010 on a wave of Tea Party support. In effect, Rubio had become the first Cuban-American accepted into the Ku Klux Klan, because the Tea Party's defining principle is hard-core racism. Its members hate anyone who is not white, including President Barack Obama, Muslims, and Hispanic immigrants. Tea Partiers are people who openly carried their guns at protests around the country when the movement began. They spat on black and gay Congress members and called them niggers and faggots during an anti-Obamacare rally in Washington, D.C., in 2010.

However, Rubio never lived up to his Tea Party credentials. Trump quickly realized Rubio couldn't stop Obama from accomplishing his agenda.

Trump, on the other hand, has ratcheted up the Tea Party rhetoric. He shrewdly co-opted the party's slogan, "Take America Back," for his "Make America Great Again." Last weekend, he refused to condemn former KKK grand wizard David Duke for endorsing his candidacy. On Twitter, he later offered a lame apology: "As I stated at the press conference on Friday regarding David Duke – I disavow."

Trump believes his tweets fly right over the heads of uneducated white people who are about that Klan life. He'll just accuse the media of reverse racism. And it's working.

I don't see how Trump will beat Hillary Clinton in a general election. But if he were to win the presidency, he would not last more than a year in the White House. The establishment Republicans and the Democrats in Congress would find a way to impeach his ass.
