In March 2010, 21-year-old Julia Sumnicht, a Wisconsin college student and aspiring model, died in Miami Beach after overdosing on a date rape drug. Now the New York Post reports that her death has been linked to Jason Itlzer, the self-proclaimed "King of All Pimps" who formerly ran a high-class escort service in New York and was later convicted of money laundering and promoting prostitution.

The Post reports that Sumnicht traveled to Miami Beach in 2009 to chase her dream of professional modeling. During her initial visit, she met Zoltan Prepszent, a Hungarian-born nightlife photographer and Itzler's Miami Beach roommate. The New York Post has taken a particular interest in Itzler over the years, charting his descent from high-class pimp to jailbird. He had retreated to Miami Beach between serving time for his initial charges and his recent arrest on unrelated charges.

According to the findings of a private investigator hired by Sumnicht's family, the day before she died, Sumnicht exchanged text messages with Prepszent, and the two had agreed to meet at Set Nightclub. After spending a few hours at Set, the two returned to Prepszent and Itzler's apartment in the Flamingo Towers. After a few hours there, Sumnicht left for another photographer's apartment, where she had been staying while visiting the city.

The photographer told another model that Sumnicht had arrived drunk and went to bed. (An autopsy later found only trace amounts of alcohol in her system.)

The next afternoon, the photographer found her dead in bed, and investigators concluded she died of an overdose of GHB.

Reports the Post:

Based on a number of factors -- including her behavior before and after going to the Flamingo Towers and the amount of time it takes for the drug to affect one's system -- the investigators concluded that she ingested it while in the apartment that Prepszent shared with Itzler, according to their report, which was provided to The Post.

Itzler, in a jailhouse interview with The Post, admitted to taking GHB himself that night after Sumnicht came to his apartment with Prepszent.

It wasn't clear how or exactly when Sumnicht ingested it.

"I almost died that night," Itzler, who now sits in jail on unrelated drug and prostitution charges, told the paper. "Zoltan [later] changed all the decorating of the apartment. He knew that I threw up all over the apartment. I vomited GHB residue all over."

Both Prepzent and Itzler hired lawyers after Sumnicht's death. Niether Prepszent nor Miami Beach police have commented about the report.
