In a tense interview on ESPN's "First Take" today former NFL player Chad Johnson admitted that he the confrontation with his ex-wife Evelyn Lozada that lead to his arrest on domestic violence charges earlier this year stemmed from his own infidelity.

"I made the bed. I'm going to lay in it," Johnson told co-hosts Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Johnson.

Johnson made no excuses for headbutting his reality star wife after she allegedly found a receipt for a box of condoms in his car outside the couple's Broward county home.

"I know I'm in the wrong. Perception on the outside, everybody sees this one way, okay you got cut," said Johnson. "There was a domestic dispute for one. Which was all my fault. Because I'm living life the way it shouldn't be lived, which is why I lost everything I did."

After being directly asked by Bayliss, Johnson quickly admitted that he was unfaithful during the couple's five-week marriage.

Smith tried to take issue with the few interviews Lozada has giving since the incident.

"But my Lord, she's on TV just as much as we are lamenting the state of affairs. So the level of privacy that you thought you should have, clearly is not the case right now."

Johnson was quick to defend his ex-wife.

"Think about my life in general? What have I ever done private?" Johnson retorted. "So when things go south, go sour, it should be out there in a public eye. I'm no saint. I'm no angel. I never proclaimed to be."

Johnson maintained that he deserves a second chance at a career in the NFL, and says he's maintained his training regime.
