Brandon Marshall is no longer a Miami Dolphin as of about 4 p.m. yesterday, and perhaps this is part of the reason why: Marshall is accused of punching a woman in the face this weekend after getting into a scuffle at a New York City nightclub.
Marshall was at a club called Marquee early Sunday morning when he allegedly got into some sort of fight with another unnamed football player. Club bouncers kicked both Marshall and the other athlete out.
Meanwhile, at about 4 a.m. Christin Myles was celebrating her 24th birthday. She was trying to go upstairs but was told to wait while security was dealing with Marshall's scuffle.
According to the New York Post, Myles then made it outside to find her friends arguing with Marshall and the other football player.
Somehow, Marshall ended up punching Myles in her left eye in the ensuing fracas. It's unclear if he meant to hit the woman or another member of her group.
Myles filed a police report.
Marshall's lawyer, however, has a different story and says that Marshall's wife was injured.
"While attempting to leave to avoid the melee, [Marshall's wife] was struck in the face by a thrown bottle. She suffered serious injury," lawyer Harvey Steinberg told the Post. "The mayhem continued outside.''
Steinberg declined to flat-out confirm or deny whether Marshall hit the woman.

It's just the latest legal run in for Marshall. Last year police were called to his Southwest Ranches home after his wife stabbed him in the stomach with a kitchen knife. He was also briefly handcuffed in December after refusing to pay a three-figure cab fair.
Marshall was surprisingly traded away yesterday to the Chicago Bears for a measly two third round draft picks. Is it possible the Dolphins front office got wind of the situation before the press and decided they had had enough of Marshall?
