Bill Clinton in Miami August 16 to Campaign for Kendrick Meek
Bill Clinton has been one of the biggest and earliest supporters of Kendrick Meek's Senate candidacy. He's been headlining fundraisers for Meek since early 2009 and is steadfast in his support. In fact, he'll be in South Florida in a week and a half to campaign on behalf of Meek. The events come just two days before President Obama comes to Miami with no plans to campaign for Meek.
Clinton will be coming down Aug. 16th and hitting up all three counties in South Florida:
In Palm Beach County:
Delray Community Center
50 Northwest 1st Avenue, Delray Beach
Doors open at 4:30 pm
In Broward County:
The Signature Grand
6900 West State Road 84, Davie
Doors open at 6:45 pm
174 East Flagler Street
Doors open at 8:30 pm
The events are open to the public, but it's a good idea to register for tickets on Meek's website.
Meek supported Hillary Clinton during the 2008 primary, and got to know the former president on the campaign trail.
Meek hasn't gotten much support from other major democrats, most notably very campaign little love from President Obama. The Prez will be hosting a fundraiser with Alex Sink two days later on August 18, and there's no word on whether or not Meek has even been invited.
Some Democrat leaders have either written off any Democrats chances at winning the Senate in Florida in favor of holding the side door open in favor of independent Charlie Crist.
