After New Times linked Alex Rodriguez to a local nutritionist who provided performance enhancing drugs to athletes early this week speculation has run rampant about his future. His camp however seems to want to make one thing clear: he's not retiring anytime soon.
Both ESPN New York and Yahoo! Sports carried stories this afternoon quoting anonymous sources close to A-Rod.
"Alex is working diligently on his rehabilitation and looks forward to getting back on the field as soon as possible," one source apparently told both Yahoo! and ESPN (seriously, both carry the same exact quote).
"Alex has no plans at all to retire,'' another told ESPN.
Rodriguez's mega-contract with the Yankees extend until 2017, but he's been at odds with the team since the team's exit from the playoffs. The sources never mention his future with the Yankees.
Though Rodriguez is currently rehabilitating from a hip injury, he apparently hopes to return next season sometime after the All-Star break.
