The Album Leaf

Want to get out of town when Miami Beach turns into the land of a thousand ravers? Better yet, are you one of the millions of people fortunate enough to not live on the Beach, but want to go check out something cool and electronic without dealing with traffic and obnoxious clubbers? Then head up to West Palm Beach for the Album Leaf, the one-man indietronica sound machine centered on guitarist/programmer/singer Jimmy LaValle. Like Postal Service/Dntel and Music A.M., LaValle makes warm, melancholic songs that fit his winsome voice like a glove; his charm lies in the wandering, melodic nature of his compositions. It's not exactly progressive house built for Space, but then again, that's why you're leaving Miami. The Album Leaf will be joined by similar-minded bands Roots of Orchis (from San Diego) and Textual, the latter a side project of the Mercury Program's drummer David LeBleu.

The Album Leaf, Roots of Orchis, and Textual perform at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, at Respectable Street, 518 Clematis St, West Palm Beach. Tickets cost $6 and $8. Call 561-832-9999.
