Just like Art Basel, the Super Bowl here seems to have exploded into a series of satellite celebrations with little connection to the main event. Still, any excuse for a megawatt party, right? And the hallmarks of these shebangs is huge shindigs at unlikely venues. And so it goes that for three days and nights, from Friday, February 4 to Sunday, February 6, a number of R&B, hip-hop, and reggae stars are set to descent on ... Jungle Island! Seriously.
It's all part of the "Miami Big Game Extravaganz
a," an all-day affair with a number of other, non-football-related, mini events within, like the Yes Yes Y'All Hip-Hop Summit, a Williams family tennis clinic, and even a women's boxing match. Tickets are expensive -- they start at $75 general admission for a single event, and just go up from there. But if you can weasel your way in comped (isn't that what these things are about, anyways?), it's a bang for your non-buck. Among the biggest names performing are Freddie McGregor, Ky-Mani Marley, Maze with Frankie Beverly, Sean Kingston, and Trey Songz. Get the whole music line-up after the jump.
