Six Best Club Parties on South Beach This Weekend
Do some Dutch uhntz-uhntz with Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano at LIV.
When did June become Miami's hottest month? And no, we're not talking about the weather.
The arrival of summer has brought electronic dance music's biggest names to the Magic City. From Avicii's tour stop at the American Airlines Arena to Tiësto's Club Life party at LIV, this month has proven to be an EDM fan's wet dream. And best of all, it's not over.
This weekend, bass drops and BPMs continue to take over South Beach with the help of a Dutchman, some bros from Minnesota, and Zürich's best DJ.
Here are the six best club parties this weekend.
Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano. Thursday, June 21, 11 p.m., LIV Nightclub, 4441 Collins Ave., Miami; 305-674-4680; livnightclub.com. Tickets cost $40 to $50 plus fees via wantickets.com. Ages 21 and up. Holland exports nearly two-thirds of the world's flowers, fresh-cut plants, and bulbs. But it also ships a ton of electronic dance music. From Tiësto to Armin van Buuren, this tiny European nation has produced some of EDM's hugest names. And with their epic beats, DJ duo Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano just might be the next Dutch dance music megastars.
No Regular Play. Thursday, June 21, 11 p.m., Mansion, 1235 Washington Ave., Miami Beach; 305-695-8411; mansionmiami.com. Tickets cost $15 plus fees via wantickets.com. Ages 21 and up. Yes, Bob Dylan and Prince have long been Minnesota's favorite musical sons. But St. Paul's Greg Paulus and Nick DeBruyn (AKA No Regular Play) are making a push to become the Gopher State's most celebrated electro duo.
Tony Rohr. Friday, June 22, 11 p.m., Treehouse, 323 23rd St., Miami Beach; 305-614-4478; treehousemiami.com. Tickets cost $10 plus fees via wantickets.com. Ages 21 and up. The nightlife options are endless on South Beach. But only one club has been designated the Best Small Music Venue by Miami New Times. And besides being a killer, intimate spot, Treehouse also books some of underground EDM's finest, like Tony Rohr.
Champagne Showers Afterhours. With Redfoo and SkyBlu of LMFAO. Friday, June 22, 11 p.m., LIV, 4441 Collins Ave., Miami Beach; 305-674-4680; livnightclub.com. Tickets cost $50 to $80 plus fees via wantickets.com. Ages 21 and up. Who would've thunk it? But yeah, LMFAO's Redfoo and SkyBlu are headlining a gig at the American Airlines Arena. Of course, we won't say that rock 'n' roll is dead. But it's certainly getting its ass whooped by Top 40 radio. And to celebrate the unlikely success of arena-style "Party Rock," Berry Gordy's son and grandson are taking over the decks at LIV this Friday.
Kid Massive. Saturday, June 23, 11 p.m., Wall Lounge, 2201 Collins Ave., Miami Beach; 305-938-3131; wallmiami.com. Tickets cost $60 plus fees via wantickets.com. Ages 21 and up. He's been in the game since the early 2000s, earning the support of electronic music heavyweights like Pete Tong, Bob Sinclar, and Avicii. But incredibly, Kid Massive didn't release his debut album until earlier this year. That slab, Little Louder, however, was well worth the wait.
EDX. Wednesday, June 27, 11 p.m., Mansion, 1235 Washington Ave., Miami Beach; 305-695-8411; mansionmiami.com. Tickets cost $30 plus fees via wantickets.com. Ages 21 and up. It's not often that Lauryn Hill or Mary J. Blige get a house remix. Then again, it's not often that a DJ as creative as EDX comes along. His skills have landed him on the The DJ List, ranking 164th in the world and number one in Zürich. Dude's a Swiss beat machine.
