The course for superstar trance DJ Paul van Dyk is all-ahead full. In Between, his fifth album of original songs, remains the record he's been giving the most push since its release in August last year. And deservedly so, what with the high-profile collaborators who appear on the album, such as David Byrne of Talking Heads, Ashley Tomberlin from Luminary, and Pussycat Doll Jessica Sutta. The last's wildly sexy vocals on the album's rollout single, "White Lies," helped lift the song to number three on Billboard's Hot Dance Airplay chart. The album continues to give and give. Earlier this year, the chart success of "Let Go" (number 13 on the U.S. Hot Dance Club Play list) was a little surprising given its vibe, a move away from driving trance and toward old-school Eurodance sounds.
Vandit, the German DJ's own record label, has been a huge time-gobbler, as one would expect, given the large number of artists on board and demanding his attention. One such artist is Jon O'Bir, the British trance DJ whose residency under the Godskitchen brand got him noticed by both van Dyk and Armin van Buuren when O'Bir opened shows for them. Vandit releases O'Bir's debut artist album, From Within, July 11.
