Kanye West has been busy lately. Of course there was the day he released his video for his first single "Power" the same night as Eminem's "Love the Way You Lie," his impromptu performances, and his infamous new Twitter account. Now comes his most recent announcement: He's releasing a new song every Friday 'til Christmas.

Yesterday, West Tweeted:

"Swizz looked at me the other night and said man are you getting sleep and I told him I can't sleep... my people need this new music," followed by, "I know yall [sic] need the music so I'm dropping 1 new song every weekend until Xmas. It may be my song it may be a new Jay song etc."
He went even further, announcing all the details via Twitter:

"I'm calling it good Fridays. Yall know every Friday yall gone have a new joint from our family. We look at the game completely different now... It's about the fans. No more holding back. That's why I dropped see me now... It wasn't about me it was about the summer the BBQs etc...."

Now that sounds like a lot of songs, but we counted: 19 Fridays 'til Christmas. Remember, there are always remixes. The first song, released on Friday, was a "Power" remix, featuring Jay-Z and Swizz Beatz. It's much longer than the original, clocking in at 5:15, and we definitely see this hitting mainstream airwaves in the near future.

We got dizzy trying to count all the pop culture references in the new version, but to name a few: Norman Mailer, Taylor Swift, American Idol, viral videos, Van Gogh, Oscar Mayer, Michael Jordan, Beyonce, Dr. Dre, and so many more our heads started to spin a little. But somehow, he meshed it all together -- and it works.

It starts off in trademark Jay-Z fashion, as an anthem of sorts with chants, claps, pianos, and a slowdown that almost gave us goosebumps. Almost. Also a few synths are thrown in, for good measure. What really caught us offguard was the song's final addition. It samples "I've Got the Power" by German dance project Snap! -- you know that early 90's Euro-dance project that also created the hit "Rhythm is a Dancer." It doesn't come out 'til the last minute or so, but we can't help but simulate the running man while smiling.
