Miami's Five Best Concerts This Week
Metric's got five Juno Awards — that's the Canadian equivalent of a Grammy for us 'Mericans — to its name. In just over 15 years, vocalist Emily Haines and her crew, as pointed out in a recent New Times article, have "steadily built a career straddling the line between indie and pop without ever pandering to either audience." Maybe that's why these Pagans in Vegas are so successful.
Chance the Rapper. Family Matters Tour with D.R.A.M., Towkio, and Metro Boomin. Saturday, November 7, 8 p.m. The Fillmore Miami Beach, 1700 Washington Ave., Miami Beach; 305-673-7300; fillmoremb.com. Tickets cost $37.50 to $47.50 plus fees via livenation.com.
With a brand new track under his belt — appropriately entitled "Angels" — Chi-Town lyricist Chance the Rapper will be bringing his Family Matters Tour to the Fillmore Miami Beach this week. Because even with all that fame, Chance proves that at the end of the day, family is, well, all that really matters.
It seems the world just can't get enough of Sufjan Stevens. After completing a North American spring tour earlier this year in support of his latest album, Carrie & Lowell — in which Stevens explores the dark aftermath of his mother's death — the indie folk singer announced the second leg of his tour, which took him overseas to Europe. This week, though, he'll be stateside, making a rare Magic City appearance at the Olympia Theater.
iHeartRadio Fiesta Latina 2015. With Pitbull, Jennifer Lopez, Don Omar, Marco Antonio Solis, Prince Royce, Wisin, Camila, Becky G, Fonseca, and Voz De Mando. Presented by Sprint. Saturday, November 7, 8:30 p.m. American Airlines Arena, 601 Biscayne Blvd., Miami; 786-777-1000; aaarena.com. Tickets cost $29 to $159 plus fees via ticketmaster.com.
Get hot, get steamy, get sweaty as the iHeartRadio Fiesta Latina makes its way to the 305. Featuring los cantantes más calientes like, you know, Pitbull and J. Lo, and up-and-coming músicos like Becky G and Voz de Mano, the Fiesta Latina at the American Airlines Arena just might be the biggest pachanga of the year.
Damien Rice. My Favourite Faded Fantasy Tour. Sunday, November 8, 8 p.m. Olympia Theater, 174 E. Flagler St., Miami; 305-372-0925; olympiatheater.org. Tickets cost $39.50 to $59.50 plus fees via olympiatheater.org.
Watch Damien Rice's Favourite Faded [Fantasies] come to life at the Olympia Theater. Considered to be one of the more influential singer-songwriters of the century (Ed Sheeran is said to have Rice's name inked on his body, which is both flattering and creepy) this will be one very special Miami show you won't want to miss.
