Major Lazer: A Visual Primer
Major Lazer: Switch and Diplo.
Music aside, visuals have played an important role in the Switch and Diplo side project, Major Lazer. From the '80s Saturday morning cartoon-style of Jamaican zombie comando Major Lazer himself to the odd-ball music videos.
The man responsible for most of the music videos is director Eric Wareheim -- better known for his work on the Tim and Eric Awesome Show -- who has made viral videos out of tracks like "Pon de Floor" and "Keep it Goin' Louder."
"It's difficult these days to grab people's attention and get them to listen to your music," Switch explains. "With the video promos we want them to be as good as they can be but in our own stye and our own way, and Eric [Wareheim] was really instrumental in understanding what we are about and getting the fun side of it. We don't want people to take it too serious. I think a lot of people think Jamaican music is very serious, but there is a lot of fun in it and a lot of humor, and Eric got that side of it."
As a primer to tomorrow's show, we've compiled all the visual reference you'll probably want to take a glance at before entering Grand Central.
