When we hear the words "Material Girl" we think of the obvious: the Marilyn Monroe-inspired music video above. Yes, Madonna will always be synonymous with this song -- but now she's named her new Junior's clothing line, co-created with daughter Lola, "Material Girl" as well. We're not so sure how we feel about that.
When we heard of the collection's name, we instantly thought of satin pink dresses, long gloves, and diamonds, but that throwback style is perhaps not appropriate for the teen audience. (Furs just wouldn't suit that hot Miami weather, anyway.)
The fast-fashion junior's collection looks like it rips a page out of the "Like a Virgin" handbook, instead. Expect lots of lace, frills, and studs with an inherent '80s influence that somehow manages to work for both a teen and adult crowd. It'll be sold exclusively at 200 Macy's stores and online starting August 3, with prices ranging from $12 to $40.
The big kicker? Apparently there will be a "celebrity muse" revealed along with the launch of the brand in August. We're not sure how they're going to top Madonna herself, but we'd sure like to see them try.
