Most music lovers who enjoy Miami's multicultural sound know about the jam masters of Locos por Juana, because their abounding soulful mix of Latin jazz is the talk of the town. And at this very moment, we can also add the Grammys to their long list of admirers.
The local heroes were recently nominated Best Latin Rock or Alternative for the 2009 awards. It's all owed to their 2008 studio album, La Verdad (The Truth), an inventive kaleidoscope of deep Latin congas and vivacious electric guitars that truly captures the vibe of South Florida's immigrant music scene. Since La Verdad's release this fall, the guys have been working all over the world, making videos and appearing on shows such as Univision's influential ¡Despierta América! and the hip Shift Late Night on Mun2. So considering they have a megahot new album under their belt and a coveted nomination for the real Grammy Awards (not to be confused with the Latin Grammys), you might think Locos por Juana would be too busy touring the globe to show some love for their original native fans who have followed them along the way. But if you assume that, you'd be wrong.

The bandmates want to celebrate their nomination with their local crew, so they are returning this Saturday night to the venerable Jazid, the Miami Beach live music venue that saw them grow into an international phenomenon. So get there early and pick a good standing spot, and rest assured, the fiesta will go on late into the night. These hometown heroes deserve our love.
