What are the chances that a pop star, who's long craved the love of the art world, just released an album entitled Artpop, and recently acquired two new arty BFFs named Jeff Koons and Marina Abramović, would plan a trip to Art Basel Miami Beach 2013?
We here at Crossfade say: Pretty good.
Especially after we spotted this casting call: "Hiring for Lady Gaga's Basel event. Looking for Performers, Dancers, Beautiful Bartenders."
UPDATE The location for Gaga's event, a benefit for the Born This Way Foundation, will be the Castle Hotel at 5445 Collins Avenue on Miami Beach. Check the cut for full details.

Now, if Gaga were to pop up during Basel, it might be for something like last weekend's Artrave.
Ostensibly the launch of her new album, this meta-performance piece and ultra-exclusive party, attended by 1,800 specially invited VIPs at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, was a phantasmagoric tsunami of artiness, during which the pop star waded through the crowd in a strange face-mask-and-straight-jacket-and-water-wings outfit, practiced the so-called "Abramović method" amid LED screens flashing "GAGA" and "KOONS," and admired a giant, bone-white, nude statue of herself humping an enormous blue orb.
"I wanted to thank [Jeff] tonight for giving this gift to me, this beautiful sculpture, for sharing his work with all of us, for sharing this night with all of us," Gaga gushed.
As for Gaga at Basel ...
Upon contacting the Miami event consultant who we'd heard was handling the Artpop maven's ABMB plans, Crossfade was told, "No," in a not-entirely-convincing tone, "Lady Gaga won't be doing a concert or making an appearance. I don't know anything about that."

So despite the denial, we still sorta suspect a pop star surprise.
To quote Gaga, "give it time, sometimes the simplest move is right."
