Chilean rock group La Ley is retiring. Miami will be the final stop in the last U.S. tour the band is offering under its name -- at least for the next three years, that is, the time frame its members have reportedly dedicated to personal projects (particularly singer Beto Cuevas, who plans to release a solo album in the near future). Accordingly with the band's Grammy-winning status and its mass appeal throughout Latin America, the Historias 2005 tour will move on from here to most of that continent, with a long and final string of shows scheduled for Mexico, the nation that opened its arms to the South American pop-rock bandmates who moved from Santiago de Chile to Mexico D.F. looking for a brighter future more than a decade ago. During their successful fifteen-year run, the three musicians -- Cuevas, Mauricio Clavería, and Pedro Frugone -- have fulfilled all of their teenage dreams. After encountering some resistance, La Ley's members have reaped their biggest rewards in the last five years, as their 2001 MTV Unplugged set established them as one of Latin America's high-profile bands.
