The long hot haul is almost over, and one-nighter debuts and oh-so-trendy parties are popping up everywhere. Hopping on the season's first party bandwagon is 821, with a new night called Crash! The funky new arrival debuts on Friday, September 13, with various and sundry party kids and an equally eclectic selection of tunes, brought to you by DJ Monty Q. After a summer lull, 821's regular weekly schedule continues to heat up the beach with other chock-full-o'-fun parties, including techno crazy grooves at Saturday night's "Bent" and their ultra-hip nasty little night "Top Secret" on Sunday. For a slightly less taxing alternative, check out MoJazz Bar & Lazy Lizard Grille (928 71st St., Miami Beach, 865-2636), also on Friday, September 13, for some cool music and a good cause. Ward off evil spirits with positive vibes when the Center for Positive Connections, a nonprofit group that provides support for heterosexual people with AIDS, hosts its first annual fundraising event. A donation of ten dollars gets you five hours of continuous music with an eclectic sampling of local artists, featuring Latin jazzsters Johnny "J.C." Conga and Eddie "Gua-Gua" Rivera, alto-saxophonist Didier LaBossiere, blues dudes the Regulators, and acoustic folkies Legacy. The jam session is downright lively, suitable for a kick start into the weekend club whirl. Friday the 13th turns out to be a lucky day after all.

Thursday
Ready Bar, "Tommy Pooch Thursday." Party promoter extraordinaire Pooch helps you welcome in the weekend with the best of the old and new music spun by DJ Mark Leventhal. 560 Washington Ave., Miami Beach, 534-8847.

Kremlin, "Hot Tropical Salsa." A homage to the fevered and horny, with everything from Brazilian house music to all-American disco. 727 Lincoln Rd., Miami Beach, 673-3150.

Virtua Cafe, "The Ritual." Move to an erotic groove with sexy interactive multimedia fun and games and cybergasmic tunes by DJ Shannon. It's sex on the beach without the sand at the cutting-edge club with a twist. 1309 Washington Ave., Miami Beach, 532-0234.
