Into the Night
Dig out your gold chains and your Fila cap and boogie down to the Cameo Theatre (1445 Washington Ave., Miami Beach, 532-0922) on Friday, April 18, for a mega bump and grind session with rap masters Run-D.M.C. and partner in crime Jam Master Jay. The boys from Queens who took rap to the extreme kick it once again to delight hip-hopsters and air-guitar aficionados alike with hit songs such as "You Be Illin'" and "Walk this Way." So slip on those untied sneakers and take your bad self and twenty dollars to the heart of SoBe for some hard-core hip-hop fun. If pumps and thump are more your game, head to the Arch Club (753 Washington Ave., Miami Beach, 673-6483) on Friday instead for some serious heartwarming. The club hosts SoBe Heat, a new kind of Firefighters' Ball. It's fun for a good cause at this fire-theme benefit dance party; indulge in the open beer bar until midnight (serving brewskis from microbrewery Firehouse, of course) and rockin' and rollin' tunes by local band Firehouse (yet again). The men of the South Florida Firefighters Calendar fan the flames a bit more with a special guest appearance. The conflagration starts at 10:00 p.m. Tickets are $15 and proceeds benefit the UM/JM Burn Center.
