Gym Class Heroes Usher in the Return of the Clevelander Thursday Night With a Free Show
Remember the Clevelander? Of course you do. What Miami resident doesn't have at least a handful of fond memories of the iconic Art Deco structure on the corner of 10th and Ocean? It stood watch over one of SoBe's busiest avenues, a patient guardian, its arms open, welcoming the public at large with its open pool deck facing the street and the beach beyond. I made my way poolside many a time, sometimes for an evening cocktail, others for a drink beneath the baking sun while watching a hot body contest on a weekend afternoon. I guess what I'm trying to say is, Clevelander, we've missed you.
But the hotel and popular party spot is back after a nearly two-year-long long hiatus, during which time it underwent renovations. The newly improved property features, among other amenities, two rooftop decks and a full sports bar. And to show you it's back in a big way, the Clevelander is launching a full-scale assault for their grand opening weekend.
Kicking off the festivities is none other than Gym Class Heroes,
who will be performing at the hotel pool patio this Thursday evening in
a free show open to the public. Gym Class Heroes dropping their catchy,
booty-shaking pop-hop for free? Sounds like a party as is, but The Academy Is will also be joining them.
And there's more to come as the weekend celebration rolls on, including DJ Jazzy Jeff spinning poolside on Friday, the Splash model showcase with DJ Irie on Saturday, and a live performance by Inner Circle on Sunday. Star Eyes, dj MIA, DJ KISS, Sky Nellor, DJ Z-Trip, Jungle Brothers and Jahfe will fill out the weekend's festivities, accompanying the aforementioned headliners.
definitely want to make it out to the Clevelander to welcome this old
friend back. Hell, book a room and stay the weekend so you don't miss
any of the fun. And if you tell them I sent you ... maybe they'll hook me
up with a free room.
Gym Class Heroes and The Academy Is
perform at the Clevelander (1020 Ocean Drive) beginning at 9pm on
Thursday, April 30th. The show is free and open to the public.
