Miami and Los Angeles, they're not so different. On the obvious tip, there's all the bling and the pneumatic bodies on balmy beaches. On the not-so-obvious tip, there are the chin-scratching musical movements bubbling under those shiny surfaces. Still, there's no question that we party harder, later, and dirtier than 2:00 a.m.-closing L.A. So it makes sense that the folks behind the stellar compilation From L.A. with Love (Artdontsleep/Milan Records) would want to celebrate its release here as well. The disc is a blunted trip into the outer limits of hip-hop and electronic music, chock full of feel-good summer grooves that jibe well with the vibe of Poplife's Friday-night party, Loop. This Friday three of Artdontsleep's left coast stars shine: Expect crunchy, down-tempo live sets from Flying Lotus, the Gaslamp Killer, and Kutmah. Before and after all of that come like-minded locals on the decks, with DJ sets from Matt Cash, Induce, and Stravinsky. The event also celebrates monthlong simulcasts between Dublab.com and WVUM 90.5 FM. West Coast, Dirty South, it's all love.
