Seems like Grand Central's opening weekend is going to be a busy one. We already talked about Thursday night's grand opening as well as Saturday's massive event with Major Lazer. Well, you might as well camp out at venue the entire weekend because it was just announced electro/house legend Felix Da Housecat will be headlining at the venue Friday night along with Danny Daze, Lazaro Casanova, and Jay-You -- an arsenal of the best local DJs, if we ever saw 'em.
Felix, of course, holds a special place in the hipsteratti's hearts because before hipsters were called hipsters, he unleashed to the world in 2001 Kittenz and Thee Glitz. It's an album which got indie kids off the wall and on the dancefloor--and to this day one of the best examples of electroclash. Subsequent releases never quite lived up to Kittenz. Last year's He Was King (appropriately named if you ask us) saw him try to recapture his past glory with a more pop-friendly sound.
Still, it doesn't take away the fact that Felix is a Chicago house legend who still manages to pack people into the clubs. And guess what? Grand Central is giving you the chance to catch the legend for free on Friday, all you have to do is RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org to get on the list and in free before midnight.
