DJ Laz Returns to Miami Radio, Romance 106.7 Becomes Spanglish Party Station
Sadly, abuelita's favorite FM emisora is no more.
Miami's WRMA, Romance 106.7, has dropped its Spanish-language adult contemporary format for a Spanglish party music concept. And next week, the station's reintroducing a familiar voice -- DJ Laz -- to local airwaves.
Last night, Crossfade's Broward County sister blog, Country Grind, reported the news that Laz's syndicated West Coast show will air on "Miami's New #1 Party Station," DJ 106.7, beginning July 4.
Laz's return to the Miami airwaves would've likely happened sooner, but the "pimp with the limp" had a non-compete clause with Power 96. Nevertheless,
Laz's inevitable return to Miami radio happened quicker than expected.
"I'm not leaving Miami for Los Angeles," he assured Crossfade in May. "I'm going to share. It's like having two women. I'm going to give them each about 50-percent attention. But when I'm with either Miami or L.A., they get my 100-percent attention."
Already, DJ 106.7 is running promos for Laz's return, likening the DJ's homecoming to the United State's secession from British rule: "We're going to laugh. We're going to cry. This fourth of July, we celebrate Laz's Independence Day."
Online, Laz's fans are expressing their excitement by posting well wishes on his Facebook page.
"Awesome news!" says one fan. "Can't wait to hear you in Miami again."
"Thats what im fxkn talking about!!! Take over my niggas! That new power 96 sound like fckn 99 jams!" says another.
As for Laz, the radio veteran appears humbled by this welcome, taking time to thanks his suppporters with a simple message: "I love you all... Become a fan of new station."
