The Weather and the Musician-Inspired Ice Cream
The high Sunday was 81 degrees. The perfect weather turned Coachella into the festival we knew and loved again. There were shirtless dudes baking in the sun, girls dancing in bikinis. The next logical step? Cool Haus ice cream sandwiches! The $6 treats were named (or renamed) for musicians playing the fest; I had the Gary Clark Jr.-inspired sandwich, which was made with whiskey ice cream and fruity pebbles. Yum. -Lilledeshan Bose

Seun Kuti, Outdoor Stage
Nigerian showman Seun Kuti's afternoon performance on the Outdoor stage spoke to the young crowd, who responded to his music and expressions of political activism. "This is for my father," he shouted over the cheers, to honor the legacy of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, whose songs inspired a generation of Nigerians. At Coachella, everyone from hippie chicks to beefed-up bros felt the energy. Sweat streamed down Kuti's back until, arms raised, he and his backup dancers ran offstage to the screams of his new fans. -Gabrielle Canon
The campgrounds around Coachella were almost as much of a party as the festival itself. People set up miniature tent cities in which they played beer-pong and painted each others faces while waiting for friends to congregate in between sets. The sites were grungy in a good way; members of L.A.'s favorite hooligan clique Odd Future were spotted roaming around late Friday night. And after the festival officially ended last night, with Snoop and Dr. Dre's star-studded set, the campgrounds erupted into an all out party. It continued until the wee hours, with music from cars and jovial cheers bleating out the final notes of this Coachella. -Kai Flanders
If we said there would be a rap show featuring the biggest names in hip-hop, and it would start on time -- to the minute -- you would have giggled manically. But that's what happened at the Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg show last night, and the bevy of guest stars came out in an extremely timely fashion as well. In fact, every show we saw on Coachella's first weekend was super prompt. Word! -Ben Westhoff
