How can one man inspire so many different emotions over the years?
In his '80s heyday with Poison, Bret Michaels was the ultimate hair-metal hunk, the kind of guy who would probably drink all your whiskey and leave, but at least write a song about it. A decade later, he became an object of semi-ridicule. And most recently, there was that whole Rock of Love thing on VH1. Again, he looked foolish most of the time. But it was enough to revive his career and draw the attention of an entirely new generation of young, impressionable women.
Then came his 2010 brain hemorrhage. Sure, we made fun of Michaels. But we didn't want him to go. The ensuing recovery and renewed devotion to his longtime baby mama is the stuff of reality-TV fairy tales. So Michaels is, once again, our ridiculously long-haired, made-up sweetheart.
