Bloody Beetroots

Most of us were introduced to the Bloody Beetroots thanks to the track "Warp," an aural terrorism attack complete with explosive tick-tocking backbeat, a hook that consists only of the words "Whoop! Whoop!," and punk rock shrieks courtesy of Steve Aoki. It wasn't exactly groundbreaking, but the kids loved it, and so it found its place along the dance music spectrum.

After releasing a full-length, 2009's Romborama, and several EPs, the Italian duo, consisting of Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo and Tommy Tea, return with the live performance manifesto "Death Crew 77," which sounds like something out of a high schooler's journal: "Every day an artist gets up and knows he has to run. What he doesn't know, perhaps, is that he doesn't have to run... alone."

Foreboding? Not really. The convoluted message will probably get lost during the Miami tour opener, billed as the only DJ set during the North American jaunt. We're not even sure if live drummer Edward Grinch will be on hand, but Mansion is trying to sell it as an "exclusive" thing when really this first show is just a warm-up for the main event happening elsewhere.

So, if that's the case, what can you expect? The usual: Hard and disjointed electro-house bangers perfect to drink yourself into a Thursday morning hangover. Nobody said it was going to be pretty.
