It feels like only yesterday when Jacksonville locals Black Kids released their first single "I'm not going to teach your boyfriend how to dance with you" in April of '08. Since then, their debut album, Partie Traumatic, has reached worldwide acclaim, landing them the #5 spot of UK Album charts that July, performing at CMJ Music Marathon that October, and exposure in The New York Times, USA Today, BBC, and a slew more, with Rolling Stone even classifying them as one of ten "Artists to watch for 2008." They headlined an international tour in the US and Europe as well that year, playing big festivals like Coachella, Glastonbury, T in the Park, and Camp Bestival.

After their brief tours with Kaiser Chiefs and Mates of State in 2009, we haven't heard much from them. Word is they're putting together a sophomore album and are making a stop in good ol' Miami at the Vagabond on July 2nd for the first time since their November '07 show at Circa Saturdays. Stay tuned for the ticket pre-sale date. We'll keep you posted!
