For those who have been lamenting the lost of Laundry Bar, and its short lived incarnation Black Sheep Bar, count this as the nail in the coffin of any possible return of the beloved spot. We received a press release yesterday stating that Bar 721 (721 Lincoln Lane, Miami Beach) would be opening soon in its former space.
Speaking to the new co-owner Martin Krediet, who is the director of marketing at The Raleigh, he told us that he and his business partner, Dan Sehres, hope the place will feel eclectic like your friend's basement. The press release eleborates, "Campy interiors by Robert Zemnickis simulate a 1970s Soho loft turned rec room, with scattered vintage pieces and plush sectionals, providing homey seating around a faux fireplace. Retro touches like shag carpets cushion the floor, while brick walls welcome guests to watch a concert, listen to groovy tunes, shoot pool (or the breeze), order great wine or a tableside keg."
Krediet adds that drinks will be moderately price, with wells hopefully under $10. Also, keeping with the friendly feel, there isn't going to be any velvet rope drama here. The only time they'll hold the door is for capacity issues. In addition, the bar will be open early enough for happy hour, but expect a lot of late-night debauchery as well because closing time is 5 a.m.
When will you be able to relax at Bar 721? Krediet says they are aiming to open the first week of November if all the paperwork is in order.
