According to a press release that was forwarded to me a couple of days ago from the incomparable Afrobella (who you all need to check out), Bejan superstar Alison Hinds is performing an intimate concert tonight in Fort Lauderdale. Her gig tomorrow night in West Palm Beach at the South Florida Fairgrounds is a bit more known about (although not by much) yet this performance in Fort Lauderdale tonight promises to be special.

Check out the press release below.

BROWARD COUNTY, FL -Alison Hinds will be the headline artiste in the first installment of the Caribbean Unplugged Series on Friday, June 13th at the African American Research Library and Cultural Center (AARLCC), 2650 Sistrunk Blvd., Fort Lauderdale.

Caribbean Unplugged is being presented by Caribbean Airlines and the Caribbean American Heritage of Florida Inc. (CAHFI) as a part of their programming for Caribbean American Heritage Month at the AARLCC.

Known internationally as the Soca Queen, Alison Hinds will be performing acoustic interpretations of her extensive catalog including hits singles such as "Faluma", "Togetherness" and "Roll it Gal".

"Caribbean Unplugged will provide a new dimension to West Indian musical artistes, allowing us to hear their music like never before" says Asa Sealy, CAHFI'S President. "Most people are used to hearing Alison Hinds in a Carnival atmosphere and don't realize how well she can actually really sing."

Hinds will be joined by a diverse array of special guest musicians and vocalists. In addition to the concert, attendees will have the opportunity to view the "Colors of the Caribbean" Art Exhibit hosted at the library for the month of June.

For tickets and information about Caribbean Unplugged call 305.690.0160 or log onto www.caribbeanunplugged.org

So if you're an Alison Hinds fan, or a soca fan in general and want to hear your beloved music up close, personal, and UNPLUGGED , well, this is a show that shouldn't be missed.

And if you're not familiar with her music, here's a popular video of Alison doing what she does best. Windin.'
