Ouzo's Mediterranean Bistro

1766 Bay Road
(Miami Beach)
Miami Beach, FL 33141
305-604-0008
Website
Ouzo’s Mediterranean Bistro, like the rest of our local Greek eateries, showcases melizanosalata; taramosalata; spanakopita; souvlaki; moussaka; grilled fish and shellfish with lemon, garlic, olive oil, and herbs; and roast lamb with potatoes, lemon, garlic, olive oil, and herbs. So what else is new? Husband-wife owners Liza and Gigi moved the restaurant -- formerly Ouzo’s Greek Taverna -- from Normandy to west SoBe, but the place has gone south in more ways that that. Renditions of the above are all right, as is braised lamb shank and Med fish specialties such as grilled branzino with cherry tomatoes and olives. But there are too many dull dishes, too many small culinary missteps (like serving Greek salad in a practically frozen state), and prices, though moderate, are too high for the quality. Ouzo’s oozes mediocrity, but if you need a Greek fix, we suppose this will do in a pinch.
