Martini 28 is a small, quaint restaurant located in a busy dining breezeway in downtown Miami. The restaurant, popular with the lunch crowd, is run by a husband-and-wife team and has intimate seating indoors and outdoors. The tables are protected from the sun by curtains, which seem a bit out of place but offer a unique ambiance and separate the restaurant from a Thai place next door. Menu items are on the heavier side for lunch, but a three-course prix fixe menu option ($9.99), which includes a soup or salad, entrée special, and dessert, offers good value. Entrées change daily and include such classics as pan-seared Atlantic salmon with rice, skirt steak with roasted potatoes, and fillet of sole in beurre blanc. Sometimes a lobster special is offered at an additional cost of $5. It's worth saving room for the desserts, all made on premise. The specialty is a cheesecake flan.
