The presentations here are refered to as the oversized, over-the-big-top presentations as "Cirque du Soleil dining." Example one: an appetizer described as "NYC curbside Sabrett hot dog served on pretzel bread with homemade sauerkraut, a side of chips, and a can of Dr. Brown's soda." Michael's Kitchen is all about the show. There are some winners, though, including a main course of crisp, meaty Peking-style duck glossed with orange-based Asian glaze, a juicy wad of plum-glazed salmon cooked on a cedar plank, and a sizable slab of Mongolian baby-back ribs. Accompaniments don't quite hit the spot, but heftily portioned à la carte sides do, especially penne mac and cheese. Richly satisfying, supersweet desserts march to the same whimsical beat as the preceding courses. Some will go for the more-is-more style more than others.
