Key Biscayne Library

299 Crandon Boulevard Key Biscayne, FL 33149 | Key Biscayne | 305-361-6134

Business Description

The Key Biscayne Branch Library opened to the public in January of 1985. It is widely considered to be the cultural center of this little island community. This 6,000 square-foot branch library is surrounded by more than one acre of lovely subtropical gardens containing hundreds of native and exotic plants. The lushly landscaped pond attracts many native bird species and is also home to turtles, iguanas of all sizes, and 5 resident ducks. The Key Biscayne Branch serves a culturally diverse community, including a large Hispanic and an expanding Brazilian population. There are a large number of seasonal residents who visit only during the winter months. The island also serves many island "pioneers" who have lived on Key Biscayne for decades. There is a small auditorium where special programs are presented. In addition to books, magazines, videos, audiobooks, CDs and cassettes, the branch also provides public access to the Internet, various reference databases, as well as the online catalog. Stop by and visit after your trip to the beach at nearby Crandon Park or after seeing the sights at the Seaquarium.
