Skip the frozen ones, which resemble the TV dinners of the bad old days. Instead, try the excellent New England-style clam chowder, hearty pasta e fagioli, well-made lasagna, or tasty chicken potpie; any one of these with a salad and hunk of French bread would make a fine dinner.
