72nd Bar + Grill - Closed

5861 Sunset Drive South Miami, FL 33143 | Coral Gables/South Miami | 786-369-1671

Location Description:

The warm, stylishly industrial décor welcomes diners to this South Miami neighborhood favorite. A dozen clear plastic seats are arranged along the bar up front; the rest of the minimally decorated room is awash in earth tones. The grill menu trots out more crowd pleasers than the Moulin Rouge, but what 72nd does best is put out fat, beefy burgers piled high with signature accompaniments and plunked onto a fresh, shiny brioche bun. We had the delicious "juancho," with long, crisp slices of bacon; melted cheddar; a fried egg; and cilantro mayo. Burgers made from turkey, lamb, or Kobe beef are offered too. The grilled yellowfin tuna sandwich likewise hits the spot, but other menu items represent more of a gamble. Prices are decent enough to diminish some of the disappointments: salads, ceviches, pizzas, burgers, and hot appetizers $7 to $14; entrées (except full rack of lamb) $17 to $30; most grill items under $25; desserts $8. Bar offerings pour over a wide swath of creative cocktails, import and domestic craft beers, and a moderate assemblage of modestly marked-up glasses and bottles of wine. Go to 72nd Bar & Grill with some friends; order burgers, sandwiches, salads, and fries; quaff a few beers, and you're likely to have a fine time.
