Keg South of Homestead

Though located north of its Homestead predecessor, the second installation of Keg South might be harder to find. It's not as spacious as a typical sports bar, but the cramped quarters add to the allure. There are plenty of entertainment options, including pool tables, videogames, and flat-screens to take in sporting events. But it's the food that draws most patrons. The long appetizer list has all the sports-bar favorites plus a couple of specialties such as chicken gumbo soup ($4.49), served with chicken chunks and sausage. Burgers are the tavern's specialty. There is a three-fourth-pound patty prepared to order ($7.29), along with all manner of smaller versions and sliders. As expected, the place offers a variety of wings, with ten ($7.29) or 20 ($13.39) that come grilled or fried. An array of beef entrées features the popular 20-ounce center-cut porterhouse ($14.99) and “the almost famous Keg bites” ($12.59), which bring ten ounces of filet mignon tips. A good choice for vegetarians or those tired of meat is the tuna steak wrap (market price), served with wasabi sauce in a tomato-basil wrap.
