Mark Soyka and Frankie Crupi (owners of Soyka and Andiamo) recently purchased this Upper Eastside roadside dog stand. Their plan is to create more of a "destination," with menu upgrades and the addition of Brooklyn Brewery beers. The new lineup greatly expands on the previous focus of hot dogs in every imaginable incarnation, although the veggie dog has been eliminated. Burgers and salads are still on the board, and in truth, things have not changed drastically (except that the kitchen is noticeably cleaner). Expect other American regional comfort foods -- from cheesesteaks to oyster po'boys -- in the near future. Childhood nostalgia and your sweet tooth get fed with Cracker Jack, Yoo-Hoo, and old-fashioned sodas. Dogma still believes that eating a good hot dog is one of life's simple, unpretentious pleasures; however, it no longer banks on the idea that everyone has a "frank philosophy." The new menu will appeal to a wider crowd, except vegetarians, of course.
