Tutors Needed for Refugee Youth!

You will help strengthen a refugee child's reading and basic math skills, help the child practice and learn English if necessary, help build and nurture the child's social skills and stimulate the child's creative and artistic tendencies. At first, the volunteer will accompany our staff member to meet with the refugee child at the child's home, daycare facility, or other designated area. Once the volunteer and family are comfortable with each other, the volunteer will tutor the child on their own. The schedule is extremely flexible but leans towards afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Skills Knowledge of Spanish or Creole may be helpful but is not necessary. Must love working with kids and youth! No special skills are required but there will be a background check to ensure the children's safety and security. College students and retired professionals are especially encouraged to volunteer.
