Contrary to popular, nostalgic belief, the 1950s weren’t really that great. Everyone was all uptight about sex. Two wars (Korea and Vietnam) were launched. There was no Netflix. Times were tough. In fact, there were really only two things the ’50s did well: clothes and booze. So Vezzoli 69 Martini Lounge at Via Verdi Cucina Rustica (6900 Biscayne Blvd., Miami) is doing its Retro Martini Tuesdays throwback night right. The event pairs period-appropriate cocktails by mixologist Cristiano Vezzoli with a fashion show of vintage styles from L.A. Boudoir, located just upstairs. Food and drink specials and local guest DJs round out the offerings. Attendees are even encouraged to dress in ’50s attire while they sip and shop the night away. Just remember: If you’re flashing back to the Eisenhower era, it helps to have a selective memory — preferably one with great taste.
